Use the CD or USB images for first-time installation. Please refer to the first-time installation instructions included there for more information.
You can upgrade the system by uploading the supplied .tea file: Select the "Data" tab and then the "Software" sub-tab in the user interface, upload the .tea file, click "Go!" and follow the on-screen prompts.
Please note that there are different .tea files depending on whether you are upgrading from a 5.1.0 version or from a 5.2.0 version, due to some architectural changes between the two versions.
When upgrading from a version prior to 5.1.0-0, some additional software packages needs to be installed. You can either re-install the system as mentioned below, or by running the provided upgrade script.
The upgrade script will install these packages as necessary. If you have updated your system over the Internet after the initial installation, you may need to have an Internet connection available to run the upgrade script.
Copy the installation script to the system, log in as root and issue the following command:
./vb288-upgrade.run
If the installation fails, try re-installing the system as described below.
NOTE: If you are running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 beta, you must re-install the system.
If you want to re-install the system from scratch, please follow these steps:
/opt/btech/etc/btech.xmlcfg1e
to a safe location (off the system)./etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-*
to a safe location (off the system). If importing the old configuration fails with an error, please follow these steps:
systemctl stop vb288.ewe
/opt/btech/extractor/etc/btech.xmlcfg1e
(note the changed path).systemctl start vb288.ewe
When importing a list of OTT channels from a probe, make sure to select the
"OTT configuration without thresholds" export, available in 5.1.0 software
and later. If importing from an earlier version you may need to open the
downloaded XML file and remove the lines from <ottThresholdPresets>
to
</ottThresholdPresets>
. You must also remove the "crc" attribute of the
<ewe>
element.
When the installation is finished and the system has rebooted, the system
should come up automatically. Use a web browser and connect to
http://address/
, where "address" is replaced by the IP address or DNS name
of the machine. All further configuration is performed from the web browser.
Please refer to the VB288 Objective QoE Content Extractor manual for details on how to configure the system.
When first installed, the VB288 comes with a 30-day trial license. To use it beyond this time, a license key is required. To generate the license code, you will need to provide the hardware key, which can be found under "About", "License".
If the system does not start up with a correct trial license, try rebooting the machine.
VBC version 5.1.0-4 or later is required to correctly display all the alarms reported by the VB288.
When displaying the media window widget for probes running 5.1.0-5 or earlier, or 5.0.2-4 or earlier, the threshold colorization does not completely reflect what is seen on the probe.
Importing a configuration file exported from the system may fail with a
CRC error under certain circumstances. This problem can most often be fixed
by opening the exported configuration file in a text editor and removing the
crc
attribute from the first line of the file.
Please report any problems, bugs or issues that you find. Please provide us with a copy of the output provided from "Data", "Configuration", "Debug data" to aid us in tracking the problem down.
